Today I was thinking about my first experience publishing on the web. I think it must have been around 2008 when I was learning karate in Tokyo. I volunteered to translate and create an English language version of my karate dojo’s website, despite having no experience in either translating or making websites. It was very much a case of figuring it out as I went along, but the experience definitely helped me to understand the theory and spiritual elements of the practice better than I would have by only reading about it. The website is still there, and looks pretty much the same as I left it. I suppose it’s preserving a little bit of my Internet history!
