Unstuck

Here is a little household hack I learned recently. According to the manuals, robot vacuums are not supposed to swallow cables. However, the headset I use for Zoom calls lives on a hook on the side of my desk when not in use. Sometimes the cord dangles a little too low, and twice it has ended up wrapped around the robot’s wheel. The first time didn’t end well. I had to make a call on whether to sacrifice the robot or the headset. The headset lost. The second time was not going to be a repeat of the first after I discovered this very simple video demonstration.

The trick is to understand that the cable probably didn’t go into the vacuum connecter first. It’s probably the middle part of the cable that is stuck in the wheel. Once you understand that, it’s just a matter of manipulating the wheel to release it. This video saved my headset, and as the YouTube comments attest, helped out a few others too.
