I am quite new to driving, and I only got my license for the first time a few months ago. The day I picked up my first car, was the day that Melbourne went back into one of our long lockdowns, and I was fortunate to have a good few months to get used to driving on relatively deserted roads. Since lockdown restrictions have eased, the traffic seems to grow every day, and I find myself encountering new challenges on the road. But today I experienced a whole new level of chaos – a Bunnings car park on a Sunday morning. There was a constant flow of traffic in and out of the car park, and long lines of cars snaking up and down rows in every direction. It was every person for themselves in there, none of the friendly waves between passing drivers, there were scowls exchanged and eyes rolled. I would be curious to know how a more seasoned Bunnings patron would characterize the experience and if it’s something that you don’t even notice after a while. Here is an image from a Bunnings car park in Western Australia earlier this year. I’m not saying this was exactly how it was…but this is kind of how it was..
